"Solar" Power Assisted Cover Reel
Setting the Vanguard apart from the rest is the main pool cover carrying tube. Designed for pool covers up to 7.3m wide (24ft), and up to 15.2m long (50ft), the main tube can handle almost any pool cover type.
Made from extruded aluminium, the main tube is sectional requiring 4 quarter sections to make up a complete tube shape. The quarter sections are assembled like a wall, with each piece overlapping the piece before it building up an extremely strong tube form. By making the tube this way, any length of tube is possible from 2.0m (6ft) upwards, stepped in 0.5m (20") increments.
The tube boasts an overall diameter of 125mm (5") with a wall thickness of approx 1.8mm (~1/14"). In addition, running the whole length of the tube are 8 internal fillets which give added resistance to bending.
The tube itself forms a 12 sided polygon and it is fully protected from the elements with a pre-alochromed, powder coated finish.

The Vanguard Professional uses a 5" main tube with internal fillets for extra strength. This keeps any drooping of the pole down to a minimum and enables the Vanguard to handle pool covers up to 40Kgs (90lbs) in weight.
We use a multi stage finishing process where each tube part is first alochromed, then powder coated. The life of the powder coat is designed for 30 years.
With the Vanguard's unique tube design, the diameter of the tube is uniform from one end to the other, resulting in the pool cover going on and off squarely, neatly and consistently.
